Since 2001, Laneve Thompkins has invented 4 different "types" of sand paintings.

This type is one of the four varieties from SANDesign.  They have special features compared

to regular sand paintings such as real aspects of nature attached to the sand background.

Here you can see real driftwood, real looking dragonflies, glass bubbles and even

fish mounts attached to the sandy canvas.  Even the lilly pads and plants

are made with sand and textured so you can literally "feel" each individual leaf !

We never cover our paintings with glass and encourage the world of touch.  As we work with the

texturing of sand we have discovered that people are amazed once they

touch the surface and feel the wonderous textures of colored sand. 

We pile the sand heavier in places making certain aspects of

the painting "pop" in a more unique way than the last.
